We’re on the hunt for a visionary Principal, Platform Engineer (DevOps) with deep hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure, container orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code. You'll architect and implement robust, scalable solutions that span on-prem and hyperscale cloud environments, driving high availability, disaster recovery, and next-gen observability across mission-critical systems.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Hands-on, technology experience and the management thereof in this area includes but is not limited to:
• Microsoft Azure.
• Production experience of containers and associated orchestration tools.
• Enterprise scale applications, API Gateways, high availability architectures, load balancing and disaster recovery.
• Experience of setting up CI/CD pipelines including production deployments
• Configuration management tooling.
• Package / dependency management solutions.
• Commercial or open source observability tooling.
Comfortable provisioning platforms through IaC tools.
• Robust understanding of on-premise infrastructure.
• The ability to apply DevOps tools and practices to on-premise workloads.
• Proficient in migrating workloads between on-premise and hyperscale cloud environments.
• Familiarity with re-architecting applications to operate in hyperscale cloud environments.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• 10+ Years engineering experience.
• 6+ Years DevOps experience.
• 3+ Years as a lead engineer.
• Leading on the design for hyperscale cloud architectures and microservice oriented, containerised solutions.
• Working across architecture and engineering disciplines.
• DevOps Strategy - Working with the Cloud Architect, establish and maintain the overall vision for the delivery pipeline.
• Documentation of design and implementation of the DevOps strategy.
• Establishing measurable and maintaining success criteria / KPI’s.
• Continual improvement.
• BAU / Operations - Lead investigations to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems using a variety of techniques.
• Evangelising modern ways of working – Leading a DevOps community of practice; Increasing adoption of automation, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Line management of staff and CCT engineering roles, oversight of partner resources.
