Diversity and Inclusion

Recognising and valuing difference is at the heart of everything we do.

The Bank is strongly committed to principles of diversity and inclusion, both as core values that are integral to the Bank’s ability to serve its clients, shareholders and other counterparties and also from the perspective of providing a supportive, nurturing and enriching workplace for Bank staff. The Bank as a workplace is characterised by its richness of nationalities, cultures, backgrounds and opinions and the Bank aims to sustain and build on the strength that this diversity brings.

Further to this, the Bank strives to build an inclusive culture where every individual is treated with respect and dignity, where the contributions of every individual are recognised and valued and where access to equality of opportunity is provided to all. Intrinsic to this is the recognition that the Bank is made stronger by the different perspectives of each person and their different characteristics, including age, disability, nationality, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital/civil status, parental status, and educational or socio-economic background.

Our diversity and inclusion agenda is led from the very top, with our Executive Committee and senior leaders championing and promoting equality and reviewing progress regularly.

We have a number of proactive employee networks, including African-Caribbean, Asian, DisAbility, EBRDconnect, EBRD Family, Spectrum (LGBTQ+) and Young Professionals. Working hand in hand with our Diversity and Inclusion Steering Group, these networks promote and increase awareness of all aspects of diversity and inclusion and shape an exciting calendar of events across our countries of operations.
