About EBRD and IPAM
The EBRD’s IPAM is an independent accountability mechanism that reviews environmental, social, and project disclosure-related concerns raised by project-affected communities and civil society organizations. IPAM ensures EBRD’s adherence to its Environmental and Social Policy (ESP) and Access to Information Policy (AIP).
Role Overview
As Principal, Environmental & Social IPAM Compliance, you will:
- Conduct compliance reviews to assess adherence to ESP and AIP.
- Manage case progress, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct thorough policy-based compliance analysis.
- Draft high-quality reports and compliance review assessments.
- Engage with internal EBRD departments, external stakeholders, and civil society organizations.
- Oversee the work of external consultants and technical experts.
- Support the development of internal operational guidelines and investigative methodologies.
- Lead outreach initiatives and provide advisory recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate complaints and assess compliance with environmental and social policy.
- Conduct interviews, site visits, and stakeholder consultations.
- Draft robust compliance reports and monitoring assessments.
- Manage information security and confidentiality throughout the compliance process.
- Design and deliver training and outreach initiatives.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective actions and recommendations.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Environment, Social Sciences, Human Rights, International Development, Conflict Resolution, or related fields.
- Extensive experience in environmental and social safeguards, particularly within international development banks (e.g. with EBRD’s Environmental and Social Policy, IFC Performance Standards, World bank ESSs).
- Proven experience in environmental and social impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, and project management.
- Familiarity with UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
- Fluency in English; additional languages (e.g., Russian, Arabic) are a plus.
- High professionalism, integrity, and neutrality.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
