Role Overview

 

An Intern is required for a 6 month period to support a digital project that will deliver a new video platform. Working within a cross-departmental project team of staff from the IT and Communications departments, the Intern will play a central role in migrating video content to the new system and assisting with the delivery of new digital video features for our external and internal websites.

 

This position has an anticipated start date of October.

 

The Intern, Digital Video, will support a project to deploy a new video platform that will be used by the EBRD to deliver video content to external websites and its staff intranet.

 

The intern will be trained in several software platforms and as such needs to be a candidate who is generally comfortable with learning new technology quickly and understanding how it can be utilised to good effect and support business change. They will also need to carry out basic project management duties as they track and plan their work and liaise with others in doing so.

 

The Intern will also work on change management tasks associated with the project, to ensure that EBRD colleagues are well-informed about future changes and so that business processes can be adapted as needed. As well as working on documentation to support these tasks, the Intern will collaborate with video production and digital delivery staff to inform and train them in new processes as necessary.

 

The Intern will report to the Principal, Online Products, whilst liaising closely with a number of stakeholders in the Bank’s IT and Communications departments.

 

Applicants should note:

  • Whilst there is a very small element of video content creation involved in this position, it is not an editorial or video production role per se. Nor is it a technical role requiring coding / development skills.
  • This is a hybrid role involving approximately 50% of the week spent at our Canary Wharf office, with work done remotely at other times (more time can be spent working in the office if the intern prefers). This is a paid Internship.

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

Content migration

  • Plan and execute a manual migration of several hundred videos from the old system to new, bringing them into the new platform in a highly-organised fashion accompanied with suitable metadata and descriptive text
  • Collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the content is selected, organised and placed in a hierarchy that suits EBRD editorial processes, is compliant with our data management obligations, and is optimised to be findable and accessible

 

Change management

  • Become expert in the new platform and maintain detailed understanding of its many facets in order to train and support others in using it
  • Run live webcasts and guide other colleagues to learn how to do the same
  • Create documentation - including video-based material - to help users work with the new system
  • Support other promotional and change management-related tasks to maximise business adoption and interest in the new system

 

Project management / coordination

  • Work independently at times, managing their own workload and taking a role in determining optimal workflows and practices for the content migration
  • Liaising with IT developers to define requirements for integrations between the new video platform and others, and carry out testing for them post-delivery
  • Working with Communications stakeholders to align the implementation of the new video system with the department’s editorial goals and other practicalities
  • Discuss governance and compliance with colleagues from several teams to ensure obligations are met and best practices followed

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

Essential:

  • Clear experience of working with enterprise software tools in a previous job or work placement. This might relate to usage of a web content management system, databases, CRM, ERP or other type
  • Experience of taking on an expansive and complex task, whether technology-focused or otherwise, that involved researching / organising / planning at scale
  • An interest in video as a communications tool and appreciation for what makes compelling video content
  • Comfortable learning and working with new technology / software
  • Enthusiasm for technology / digital and understanding of its usage in a corporate environment
  • Analytical approach and ability to look at a complex situation and zero in on problems
  • Proactive at devising solutions and finding ways to improve or optimise processes
  • Strong skills in standard software like MS Office
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and ability to liaise productively with wide set of personality types and colleagues in different roles
  • Able to work independently as needed, following detailed instructions with precision, but also strong ability and willingness to work within the dynamic of a complex project team where colleagues in multiple locations must be fully aligned and in constant communication
  • Comfortable working with uncertainty and adapting to changeable priorities or processes
  • Able to work calmly under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Immensely organised, with high standards when it comes to attention to detail and determination to see tasks through to completion
  • Strong editorial skills and ideally experience in a role with an element of writing content

 

Useful additional skills and experience

  • Any understanding or experience in working with live streaming and other mechanics of digital video
  • Experience of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Knowledge of Final Cut, Premiere, Wondershare or other video editing and production tools
  • Experience of producing written documentation / instructional text
  • Any work in a PR / Communications environment
  • Experience of working in cross-departmental teams and / or offshore colleagues
