Purpose of Job
The postholder would be an integral member of the Corporate Strategy/Brussels Office team. S/he would support delivery on a number of files across all areas of the team’s work. While managing a number of files of his/her own, the analyst would also contribute to the overall responsibilities of the Brussels Office in managing the Bank’s outreach to Brussels-based stakeholders.
The postholder would report to the Director, but work with all colleagues in the team, while having exposure to a number of internal and external counterparts.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Contribute to the the Bank’s engagement with the EU as its majority shareholder and biggest donor.

Monitor institutional and policy developments on EU level that are of interest to the Bank’s operations and strategy.

Contribute to the structured sharing of information and intelligence with other teams in the Bank on files of respective interest.

Act as a resource on EU policies and institutions for colleagues across the Bank, and contribute to coordination of EU-related activities within the EBRD. Support and advise EBRD teams in their operational dealings with the EU.

Contribute to the organisation of incoming high-level and technical missions of other teams, incl. preparations of briefing notes.

Contribute to the Bank’s efforts to increase visibility in Brussels.

Specific deliverables will include (but are not limited to):
- Drafting of analyses on newly announced initiatives and developments on EU level.
- Maintain regular dialogue with internal teams and support their work by providing targeted assistance and information related to the EU.
- Support the Bank’s efforts to increase visibility in Brussels by keeping an overview on upcoming events and proactively seeking opportunities for representation.
- Support the team in the organisation of incoming missions, both on logistics and content.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Experience in engaging with EU institutions and ease to navigate the Brussels context. Deep understanding of current priorities in the EU policy agenda. Familiarity with EU development policy is a plus.

Strong analytical skills – Ability to research and distill information with speed and efficiency.

Organisational awareness – Ability to understand the formal and informal structure of the Bank and its business environment. Ability to effectively use its information and resources to get things done.

Ability to multitask – Self-motivated, ability to work independently to meet deadlines and to plan and organise work in a logical and efficient manner. Ability to manage competing deadlines and workstreams for multiple managers.

Strong time-management skills – Ability to work quickly, delivering accurate products often under tight deadlines.

Excellent writing skills in English and an eye for quality and detail – The necessary skills to prepare high-quality analytical and written submissions. French is a plus.

Communication skills – Ability to communicate appropriate, concise and accurate information in verbal and written formats, appropriate to the audience at the time

Strong team player.

Sound judgement, including the ability to anticipate problems or bottlenecks and a keen sense of when to escalate issues or find a solution independently.
