Purpose of Job

Under the supervision of Principal Manager/ Regional Principal Manager the Analyst is responsible for delivering instruments, activities and any other delegated tasks under Advice for Small Businesses Programme in line with strategic priorities of the Bank and SME Finance and Development group (e.g. synergy with banking, green, digital, inclusion) and in coordination with relevant teams (e.g. FI, ICA, Inclusion, Policy and other relevant teams). The Analyst will perform in full alignment with Bank’s policies and procedures, donor requirements, internal control and compliance standards, as well as the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct working with credible and respectable counterparts. The Analyst will be responsible for business development generating pipeline of high quality clients and advisory projects and activities in priority areas (e.g. digital, green, inclusion, innovation) and ensuring synergy with banking (e.g. Integrated Products - Women in Business, Youth in Business; Risk Sharing Facility; Supply Chain Financing, Blue Ribbon, Star Venture). The Analyst will be responsible for clients pipeline development, project conception and implementation/monitoring, evaluation of advisory projects, as well as portfolio management and its assessment.  Responsibilities will also include market and sector development activities, digital outreach, cooperation with relevant partners and stakeholders, as well as input for visibility activities.

 

The Analyst will work with the clients to identify their business needs and identify areas for business advice and potential financing needs. S/he will develop the scope of advisory projects focusing on priority areas, and identify suitable consultants or experts for the assignments.

S/he will manage advisory projects and other initiatives through the stages of conception, implementation, completion and impact evaluation promoting best practices in the project cycle. The Analyst will proactively manage and analyse his/her portfolio of  projects ensuring it contributes to high   quality of ASB projects  and  their impact, as well as propose innovative approaches and initiatives based on the portfolio assessment findings. The Analyst will also provide support to other ASB team members and EBRD bankers when needed for need assessment (funding or advice) as well as working alongside them in executing EBRD advisory and banking projects.  

 

The Analyst will support the Principal Manager/ Regional Principal Manager in the country or region and interact with clients, consultants, EBRD banking colleagues as well as ASB staff in other countries and in HQ to share knowledge and develop best practice and innovative initiatives.

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 

  • Under the supervision of Principal Manager/ Regional Principal Manager the Analyst will deliver instruments, activities and any other delegated tasks under Advice for Small Businesses Programme in line with strategic priorities of the Bank and SME Finance and Development group (e.g. synergy with banking, green, digital, inclusion, sustainable supply chain financing) and in coordination with relevant teams (e.g. Financial Instruments, Industry Commerce and Agribusiness, Inclusion, Policy and other relevant teams).
  • The Analyst will be responsible to perform all the activities under ASB in full alignment with Bank’s policies and procedures, donor requirements, internal control and compliance standards, as well as the highest standards of integrity and ethical conduct working with credible and respectable counterparts.
  • The Analyst will be responsible for business development to contribute to generating pipeline of high quality clients and advisory projects in priority areas (e.g. digital, green, inclusion, innovation) and ensuring  maximum synergy of advisory and  banking (e.g. Integrated Products - Women in Business, Youth in Business; Risk Sharing Facility; Supply Chain Financing, Blue Ribbon, Star Venture).
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the innovative and ambitious ASB Annual Operational Plan for the country, as well as other operational activities under SME F&D..

  • The Analyst will be responsible for, project origination and conception, implementation and monitoring, evaluation of advisory projects in line with internal policy, quality and compliance standards, as well as for portfolio management.
  • Contribute to regular portfolio assessment to generate ideas for follow up support and new initiatives.
  • Follow market trends with the focus on priority areas to contribute to the development of innovative ideas and products to address evolving market trends and needs. 
  • Responsibilities will also include preparation and delivery of market and sector development activities, digital outreach, cooperation with relevant partners and stakeholders, as well as input for visibility activities for maximum visibility of ASB and donors.

Under the supervision of (Regional)  Principal Manager ensure the enhancement of the consultancy database offering a broad pool of expertize, the competitive selection of high quality and integrity consultants, as well as ensuring also  that the consultants deliver in accordance with high integrity standards and the terms of reference

  • Support Regional/Principal Manager in the development of internal and donor  reports in partnership with the HQ team to inform donors on the progress of activities and utilisation of funding, as well as also contribute to new donor proposals
  • Cooperate with banking teams in any phases of banking projects cycle including in identifying hight potential banking clients – e.g. Blue Ribbon clients, analysing their financials and monitoring portfolio companies’ performance, and nourishing them  for financing.
  • Under the guidance of the Principal Manager/ Regional Principal Manager implement or support implementation of marketing and visibility activities to promote ASB and donor/s in the country .
  • Where relevant, prepare and submit for review accurate and timely Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs), keep adequate and well-organised documentation in support of all local payments in line with EBRD's duties for prudent management of donor funds.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

Education/Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business, Economics, Finance  or equivalent work experience)

 

Experience

  • Relevant professional experience, preferably from commercial management consultancy, , development institutions or financial institution (banks).
  • Good knowledge of and experience working in at least one of the SME F&D Priority Areas (i.e. green economy, economic inclusion,, sustainable supply chains, risk sharing facility, and digitalisation), as well as market trends in these areas
  • Knowledge of business advisory services.
  • Knowledge of local business environment and consultancy market.\
  • Knowledge of relevant stakeholders and SME business associations or support organizations.

 

Skills

  • Strong business advisory and consultancy skills.
  • Business/financial analytical skills, with the ability to interpret accounts, understand local accounting principles and conduct financial analysis.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  • Effective communication, presentation and negotiation skills and ability to manage relations with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
  • Skills to develop and maintain strong relationship with relevant stakeholders.
  • Strong writing skills; experience in writing advisory project proposals, terms of references or reports desirable.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. Fluency in language of country of operations.
  • Computer literate: excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Power Point, ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Knowledge of marketing and social media desirable.
