The Financial Strategy and Budget team sits within the Finance – Strategy, Planning & Control department. 

This is a project role, supporting the Budget Operating Model (‘BOM’) project which is one of the workstreams under the Bank’s Operational Effectiveness and Efficiency (OE&E) programme and aims at creating a better budgeting function.

The Financial Strategy and Budget Intern’s role will primarily be to support analysis of the Bank’s allocation of resources against activities and operational cost drivers, together with other elements of the Budget Operating Model project and ad hoc support with team presentations.  This work aims to develop metrics to support decision making and will include:


  • Analysis of data to identify key drivers (across staff allocations, types of operation and cost bases)
  • Developing standard costs by type of project
  • Developing a proposal for incorporating costs in team P/Ls and supporting implementation in reporting
  • Updating data and refining results as senior management input is received
  • Preparing presentations to senior management (including the Executive Committee) on the results and potential use of the analysis
  • Supporting the development of a business case for embedding the capture of resource allocations and cost drivers going forward


Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or similar field
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurac
  • Demonstrate ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and follow through on completion of projects
  • Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written.
