Background

 

The EBRD is looking for a full-time Intern who will act as a Junior English Editor for the Communications Department. This role sits in the Marketing and Campaign Communications team and is an ideal introduction to editing a wide variety of publications and an opportunity to learn about corporate communications in an international setting. Note that this internship is not a writing or journalistic role.

The successful candidate will have strong editorial skills and have a keen interest in communications for and about international development.

 

This role will be offered as a 6 month Internship (with the possibility of an extension to a 12-month Internship)

 

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

 

In line with the EBRD’s Style Guide, the Junior Editor will:

  • Assist editorial colleagues in the production of print corporate titles, including collating comments, checking printers’ proofs and preparing short descriptive summaries.
  • Assist editorial colleagues in the production of digital publications, such as proofing, testing and troubleshooting online versions.
  • Proofread promotional products such as brochures, presentations, posters, invitations and banners.
  • Proofread content for online and print campaigns, for internal and external audiences, as required.
  • Help edit and proofread content produced for the website and newsletter of the EBRD Alumni Association.
  • Help maintain and update the publication sections of ebrd.com, in consultation with colleagues responsible for online communications.
  • Help maintain and monitor our project management database, Trello.
  • Monitor the publications email inbox and help respond to requests and queries.
  • Run reports and statistical analysis for digital publications, particularly corporate reports.
  • Undertake any other editorial duties, as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

 

  • University degree (or equivalent) a minimum. A qualification or experience in communications would be an asset.

  • Fluent English, with excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Some editorial experience in preparing publications, materials and products for the digital and/or print environment.

  • Proven organisational skills in a demanding environment. Event and database management skills would be additional assets.

  • Knowledge of the digital publishing environment.

  • Strong team player but with the ability to work on own initiative with limited supervision and instructions.

  • Ability to advance work in parallel on different matters, while prioritising and working to tight deadlines.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues in the Communications Department and deal effectively within a multicultural environment.

  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn quickly how to use other software tools which are needed to exercise the functions of the job.
