Purpose of Job

 

The Associate, Financial Strategy and Analytics is expected to develop deep expertise in key processes carried out by the team.  In particular, this will require in-depth knowledge of rating agency methodologies for MDBs and how these influence capital and liquidity metrics.  In addition, the role will involve supporting the presentation of key financial data and analytics to internal and external stakeholders, including rating agencies.  This role reports to the Associate Director of the Financial Strategy and Analytics team, but would work closely with the two Principal Managers in the Financial Strategy team on specific aspects of the team’s work programme.

 

 

Accountabiltities & Responsibilties

 

  • Assist in the production of the Bank’s financial plan, including defining key financial assumptions.
  • Maintain, document, develop and run the stress testing modelling process within Finance.
  • Develop and maintain return on capital metrics and thresholds, and assist in the maintenance of the Bank’s primary profitability tool for debt projects (Investment Profitability Model).
  • Work on presentations and written documents providing key messages for internal and external stakeholders on the Bank’s capital and liquidity profile.  These include the Board of Directors, Executive Committee and rating agencies.  These presentations are important for transparency and also for strengthening perceptions about the Bank.

 

Other ad hoc analysis supporting the work of the Financial Strategy team, as directed.

 

In addition to the key responsibilities and deliverables described above, the individual may be requested to perform other relevant duties as required by business needs. 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualfifcations

 

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree or equivalent experience - Finance/ Economics preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, with a delivery focus
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and/or reporting/analytics/modelling software
  • Team player, including ability to work in a matrix environment and across functions
  • Sound decision making and problem solving skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including presenting information

 

Experience and knowledge:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of financial regulation and related risk issues for modelling of (i) accounting/financial forecasting and/or (ii) a regulatory/economic capital and liquidity risk background.
  • Good grasp of financial and capital market fundamentals, credit analysis and accounting concepts.
  • Strong knowledge of data systems, for example Excel or Tableau.
  • Demonstrated experience building effective working relations with clients and colleagues.
  • Written/drafting skills would be an advantage.
